A Quote That Understands

“Loving a band with all your heart is something you understand when it happens to you. On the surface, others see it’s a petty obsession, but they’ll never know the feeling of putting so much faith into a few people on the other side of the world. It’s hard to explain it to them, the listening to song after song on repeat, the waits for an album, the excitement and surreal sensation when you finally see them live. They don’t understand why the lyric booklets give you a sense of comfort, or why you paste photos of them all over your bedroom walls. And they can’t understand why one band could matter to you so much. And you think to yourself, ‘Because they saved my life’ But you say nothing, they wouldn’t understand.” –Alex Gaskarth
Alex Gaskarth is one of my favorite people ever. He is the lead singer of All Time Low and he also plays guitar in the band along with Jack Barakat on lead guitar, Rian Dawson on drums and Zach Merrick slapping that bass. Alex is also an avid band lover.
Alex’s words are perfect. Nobody really gets it unless they are in love with a band themselves. It’s no secret that bands are the most important thing to me.  My music is the most important thing to me. Without music I would be an even bigger ball of sadness and self-hatred. Music makes me happy when nothing and no one else can. It keeps me going when all I want to do is give up.

I think that music is really important, even though I can’t read music I can follow it. Even though I can’t play an instrument or sing, music is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Music, bands and singers have literally saved my life and I honestly don’t think I would be here today if I had never discovered the wonderful medicine that is music.

Stereotyping Will Be the Death of Us All.

I am honestly so sick of people stereotyping fangirls. Sure we are franchise/performer obsessed, but we are so much more than that. I am a seventeen year old girl and not a twelve year old. I am a teen not a tween.
I am not a pre-pubescent girl that has not even started her period yet let alone her teen years, I am almost through my teen years and I am about to graduate high school.
I am unpleasantly aware of the large number of young girls in fandoms, but I assure that they do not run them. The girls over the age of fifteen hate having such young girls in the fandoms. I don’t even really like the fifteen year olds, sometimes they are just too young.
I must sound like a hypocrite, right? I know better than anybody how hard it is to stay out of fandoms no matter your age. I started in the Justin Bieber fandom when I was only eleven years old in the seventh grade. Let me tell you I was that annoying little girl in the fandom that was too young, which is why I never was able to go to a Justin Bieber concert.
I guess you could say I have grown in fandoms a lot. When I was a dumb eleven year old obsessing over a boy that was four years older than me I had so much to learn. I didn’t really make any friends in that fandom because I was so young and I will admit annoying. After telling people that I’m a Directioner I get many strange looks and judgments. I am so much more than just a Directioner though, I am in too many fandoms to count and I love so many bands that I can’t even fit all my music on my laptop.
Back in May, Jack Baraket from All Time Low tweeted an article link and tagged the 5 Seconds of Summer band account.

The article actually made me really mad. Of course I liked it because it was saying how 5 Seconds of Summer could help rebirth the age of pop-punk, but it was later in the article that really fired me up.

“It’s entirely likely that most of their [5SOS] current fans are One Direction fans: young, obsessive tweens with a boatload of their parents’ cash to throw around.

And where’s the trail of influence going to lead those fans? When these obsessive fans learn (and they will learn) that their favorite band got their start by covering pop-punk bands and cite them as their influences, are they going to come looking? Are they going to start listening to Mayday Parade? Absolutely. Will that lead them to the Summer Set? All Time Low? Maybe even Wonder Years? Probably. I know what you’re thinking ‘the last thing I want is a bunch of screaming 1D fans in my scene.’ Why not?”
Okay first of all, I have been listening to bands like Mayday Parade, the Summer Set, All Time Low, Blink-182, Go Radio, Yellowcard, We The Kings, Panic! At the Disco, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Motley Crue, Kiss, and AC-DC long before One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer were even thinking about forming a band. Second of all again I’m a seventeen year old girl who had to buy all her band tee’s, concert tickets and other band merch all by herself. My parents won’t buy that stuff for me because they just don’t have it.
When I went to Pittsburgh for my One Direction concert I had to use a month’s worth of my paychecks for my ticket, band shirts and my dinner. When I went to see 5SOS in Philly my parents drove me yes, but I had to pay for my ticket, the hotel room AND the gas for my mom’s car. Every other concert that I have been to, I have either had to win tickets for or pay for them myself. The only concert my parents have ever paid for was my Aerosmith and Motley Crue concert and that was because it was mine and my sister’s birthday present and I was only eight at the time.
So no, I am not a tween with a boatload of my parents’ money to spend and I have already discovered more than the bands that they listed.

ONE DIRECTION IS GOING TO THE RALPH!!!!

One Direction is finally coming to Buffalo, New York after touring the United States three times. I have never been more excited in my life and I really hope I can go. I will be in college by then so I don't know if I can make it considering my college is two hours away, but hey not like I have never driven hours and hours for those boys. The only problem is that it is on a Thursday night so if I have classes too late or if I have classes Friday morning I will be in trouble. If I would still be in high school then I would have no problem missing a day, but college is completely different.
I really hope the boys get to eat real Buffalo wings because lord only knows what ‘Buffalo Wings’ they have eaten. I’m really excited even if I can’t go see them for a third time there are so many people here in Buffalo that have never been able to go see them live before. Not because they have a lack of dedication, but because some people just can’t leave town like that to go see a concert. Out of all the concerts I’ve been to about half of them have actually been in Buffalo so I have no problem going all over creation for bands. Obviously considering I literally jut flew to Miami to see One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer perform not only the last show of the Where We Are Tour but also the last show they will ever perform together for the rest of their lives. It would be amazing if they did a reunion tour, but I don’t think that’s likely considering One Direction is already so big and 5 Seconds of Summer isn’t getting any smaller. They just went on the Ellen DeGeneras show and that was amazing, I watched it three times and it never got any less hilarious. I love Ellen and I love 5SOS so that was fun. Even though she called the, 5 S.O.S. instead of 5Sauce, but it’s Ellen so she is of course forgiven.
